Bibliography
The name Tidwulf occurs only once in DB, holding an estate of 1½ hides containing land for 1 plough at Havyatt below the northern slopes of the Mendips in north Somerset. Exon adds the information that Tidwulf held ‘jointly’ (pariter) but does not say with whom (Exon 142b3), and there was no other holding at Havyatt. Presumably Tidwulf was the senior representative of a group of kinsmen. In 1086 Havyatt was in the hands of Bishop Geoffrey of Coutances’s tenant Brungar the Englishman, who one would like to think was a member of the same family.
