Profile
Hunta 3’s estate was at Wrottesley in south-west Staffordshire, on higher ground from which various minor streams drain down to the River Penk. Domesday states that he ‘held and was a free man’ (tenuit et liber homo fuit), a formula which in Circuit IV tells us little about whether he was a dependent tenant or had power of alienation over his land (Baxter 2007: 237-40).Hunta 3’s estate was nearly 130 miles and thus too far distant from those of the other TRE landholder of that name for any connection between them to be considered.
