Profile
It is possible that Theodric 8 and 9 were identical, since the name is not common and their estates were both located in the east of Suffolk. However the following considerations make it more likely that they were two different individuals: their estates passed to different successors in 1086; the holding in Willisham was much larger than that in ‘Leofstanestuna’; the former was a discrete manor, whereas the latter was held jointly with seven other people; the text of Little Domesday spells their names differently; and none of the names of those who held ‘Leofstanestuna’ with Theodric recur in the entry for Willisham.Bibliography
