Bibliography

Earnwulf 10 had a tiny holding of 30 acres worth 10s at Freston in south Suffolk, which he held from Swein of Essex (Swein 9), the son of the TRE holder Robert fitzWimarc (Robert 14) (who had also held the main estate at Freston).  There is no reason to associate him with any of the TRW landholders who had apparently Scandinavian or continental cognates of his name, which is why he is here assigned the Old English form Earnwulf.  His tiny holding was probably an arable farm, because he had one plough and a single acre of meadow that was presumably for the plough-oxen rather than stock.
