Olaf 13 held a tiny holding of 1 virgate (which in Hastings Rape represented 1/8 hide) worth 10s in 1086, although its precise location is uncertain and DB notes simply that it lay in Foxearle Hundred in Hastings Rape, the easternmost rape of Sussex. Olaf held the land as a subtenant of the count of Eu, but given his Scandinavian name it is conceivable that he was connected or related to the TRE holder Hernetoc 2, who had probably been a free peasant settler near the edge of the Pevensey Levels. In any event, it was Olaf 13’s only estate and there is nothing to associate him with anyone else of that or a similar name recorded in DB.
