Profile
Leofsidu 3’s estate was at Winterbourne but its precise location is uncertain because there are several places of that name in both Domesday and modern Wiltshire, it being the old name for the rivers Till and Bourne. Leofsidu’s estate was clearly on the latter river, which runs through the east and south-east of the county, and the identification with Winterbourne Dauntsey suggested by Pugh and Crittall (1955: 203) is adopted here for mapping purposes.Leofsidu 3’s estate was about 150 miles from the small holding of Leofsidu 4.
