Ragnhild’s gender remains uncertain, because the DB spelling Ragenild could represent the masculine or feminine forms of the name and there are no conclusive indications one way or another in the DB entry. Although a male landholder is the more likely, therefore, the question must be left open.

This was one of only two estates recorded in DB as held TRE by someone called Ragnhild and at over 160 miles apart they were too far removed to have been held by the same person. The DB spellings, together with differences in post-Conquest successors, render it unlikely that Ragnhild 2 can be connected with the Yorkshire landholder(s) called Ragnald or any other superficially similar name, and there is no reason to consider Ragnhild 2 in connection with any other estate or person.
