Profile

The small vill of Thingwall on Wirral was impossibly distant from Guilden Morden in south Cambridgeshire for the two Winterleds to be the same person. Thingwall lay at the heart of the territory that was settled by Norse-Irish settlers in the early tenth century, and indeed was named from their ‘meeting-place’ (ON þingvollr (PN Ches. ).
