Profile
Leomær 13 is named in ICC (p.38, as Lemarais de haustitona; var. Lemma de hinestitona) and IE (p.99, as Lemar’ de Hestitona) among the Domesday jurors of Whittlesford Hundred in Cambridgeshire. The hundred and the place-name forms of his byname are consistent with Hinxton but he is not named in any of the DB entries relating to estates there. Nevertheless, it is more likely that Leomær 13 was an undertenant unrecorded by DB (Lewis 2006: 318-27) than that he was one of the unnamed 36 villans and bordars recorded on the various Hinxton estates in 1086.Bibliography
